His and Hers is a novel narrated in turns by Anna Andrews, a news presenter and borderline alcoholic, and DCI Jack Harper, Anna s ex husband and the lead on a murder in a small town Anna is initially sent to report on the murder, but soon realises she knows the woman who was murdered, and that she may be involved And Jack is initially excited to be dealing with a real crime for a change until he realises the body is that of the woman he was sleeping with, and that he was the last one to see her aliveI loved the dual narration, and the difference in perspectives between the two characters it lent such a realism to both the characters and the story There aretwists and turns that you could shake a stick it, and each time I thought I had it figured out, I was flummoxed by the next twist The novel is cleverly plotted and very engaging I didn t want to stop reading once I d started I also loved that the characters were so well developed both flawed and dysfunctional, but yet somehow I found myself rooting for them Alice Feeney has created yet another thrilling read with His and Hers , and I will definitely be recommending this one to my book club Thank you to Netgalley, who provided me with a free ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. His and HersI am a fan of Alice Feeney s books and was really excited to get an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and HQ Thankfully I wasn t disappointed. As the saying goes there are two sides to every story which is the premise of this book, His and Hers, which means someone is always lying A body is found in Blackdown Villagw and DCI Harper is sent to investigate It s not long before his ex wife Anna Andrews arrives to report live from the scene for BBC news Jack starts to suspect that his wife is somehow involved until he suddenly realises he is being setup as a suspect in his own murder investigation This is a great book and when you re reading it you get a real sense of impending doom as the story goes on I have to say I didn t like any of the characters in this book but that just goes to show how perfectly they were written as you really believe that anyone and everyone is guilty The book is well paced with a number of well timed twists with a great ending. Kill them all I was hooked from the opening chapter of this book and couldn t put it down until I d reached the end His and Hers tells the story of Anna journalist and Jack detective Anna is portrayed as an intriguing, troubled character from the start Someone who is keeping up appearances despite her alcohol problem Jack is also an interesting character and it s clear both have a story to tell about the past Then a woman turns up dead and their lives collide..I thought the plot was brilliantly executed I particularly liked the way the character dilemmas build up around the plot and as the story getstwisty, the characters getanddrawn in and the tension about what they have to face up to becomes almost unbearable to read The threats of the plot are woven together in a really clever way and the characters are intimately connected with it Meanwhile I was constantly questioning who might be the killer as a cast of suspects are lined up.The ending took me by surprise I didn t guess I absolutely loved this book Five stars and .
